Annual Colours Rowing Race of Dublin

The Colours Boat Races took place today. This includes the 62nd installment of the historical Gannon Cup Boat Race between bitter rivals UCD and Trinity and the 30th year of the Senior Ladies’ Corcoran Cup.

The Corcoran Cup was introduced in 1980 as a Women’s Senior IV’s race be-
tween the Ladies Boat Clubs of both UCD and Trinity. The race was held in
Islandbridge up until 1991 when it then moved down stream to the Lower Liffey. However, this year the race was run over the course from O’Connell Bridge to James’ Gate Brewery rather than the Docklands course in previous years.

The race was changed to Women’s VIII’s from 1993 on, due to the huge increase of participation in women’s rowing in Ireland during that period.

I Like My Burgers “Well Done” But This Is A Bit Extreme

BURGER KING® Dublin In Flames

Flame-grilling is the tastiest way to cook a burger restaurant.

Almost every time I visit the city centre I come across the fire brigade in action. Today the fire was in Grafton Street.

Unfortunately most of the action was over when I arrived outside BURGER KING®.

Five units of the Dublin fire brigade fought the blaze that broke out in Burger King on Grafton street at around 2 O’Clock. According to the firemen at the scene no one was injured … I did not speak directly to any of them but I overheard one being interviewed.

In 1954, James McLamore and David Edgerton opened their first BURGER KING® restaurant in Miami Florida, USA. They had a guiding principle of offering reasonably priced quality food, served quickly, in attractive, clean surroundings.
The World was introduced to the signature flavour of the Original WHOPPER® Sandwich in 1957
In 1963, the first international franchise restaurant opened in Puerto Rico, and in 1981 the first Irish “Home of the WHOPPER®” opened on Grafton St, Dublin.

I made a bit of a mistake today. I entered an enclosed car park to photograph some graffiti even though I saw a group of about ten people in a corner. I thought that they were a group of tourists on a guided walk of the city but when I started to take some photographs it suddenly became clear that it was a cider party and that they did not appreciate my presence.
